Garden Produce

At the beginning of the week, this is what we picked from the garden. The kids helped, so some of the peppers were a bit on the small side. Lena has admonished them not to pick the peppers for awhile, so they can get nice and big.

Here is what some of our garden looks like. You can see carrots, cucumbers, sunflowers, tomatoes, and watermelon vines. The tomato plants behind Grandpa and Ethan are huge! Mike got some bamboo out of our woods to help stake them. Lena was afraid they would fall over. The cages aren't strong enough at this point to hold the plants up on their own. We'll have to copy some of our friends and make some bigger, sturdier cages next year to hold our mammoth plants upright.

We are finally getting some melons on the vines. They were taking forever to get any fruit.

Ethan made Mommy a butterfly. Look at those tiny wings! Kind of reminiscent of the caterpillar-turned-butterfly in A Bug's Life.
